Course Overview
The Canadian Red Cross Professional Responder Instructor course prepares experienced providers to confidently deliver high-quality training to future professional responder candidates.
Throughout the course, candidates develop the instructional knowledge, technical teaching skills, and practical experience required to teach the Professional Responder programs while meeting Canadian Red Cross national standards.
Successful candidates will be prepared to instruct independently under a CRC training partner while promoting professionalism, learner engagement, and safe clinical practice.

Instructor Certification Pathway
- Prerequisites
Verify that all certification and course requirements have been met before beginning instructor development. (have CRC participant level in Emergency Medical Responder, Advanced First Aid, First Responder, or Basic Life Support with airway management and O2 therapy )
Complete a successful skills assessment of all required skills for the level you are looking to instruct.
- Fundamentals of Instruction (2 days)
Develop core instructional skills including lesson planning, communication, classroom management, learner engagement, and evaluation techniques.
- Discipline-Specific Training (2 days)
Learn the knowledge, teaching strategies, and evaluation standards specific to the CRC Professional Responder programs.
- Teaching Experience
Apply your instructional skills through supervised teaching and receive coaching from experienced Canadian Red Cross Instructors.
- Certification
Candidates who successfully complete all course requirements become certified Canadian Red Cross Professional Responder Instructor.
