Always having been inspired by our men and woman in the armed forces in 2018 he took the plunge and enrolled in the Canadian Armed Forces. Since joining he has visited and taught in remote communities inside Ontario. He has also been able to help assist in the 2019 flooding along the Ottawa River.

Richard started Get Outdoors back in 2018 after noticing that the next generation seemingly wanted to stay indoors with technology. “These are critical lifesaving skills they are learning. This information could mean a life-or-death situation, so I will do everything I can to make sure they remember the material and commit it to memory, for that one time it’s going to really matter.” That is how Richard makes a difference as an instructor.

Richard strives himself on passing on his skills to anyone who wants to listen and dedicates himself to helping others learn at their pace. He works well with all ages and can bring the learning to life for those who take his courses. He truly loves teaching in all his roles and has excellent communication skills.

What People Are Saying

“Hi Richard! You probably don’t remember me, I was in your cpr class last Friday. I just wanted to say thanks for a good class. I’ve taken cpr before but was always bored by it. You made it interesting, so thank you! Keep up the good work ”

“Richard King is an amazing instructor, he is patient and makes sure that you understand completely. He answers all your questions no matter what they are. My 7 year-old suffers from high anxiety, she decided this year however that she wanted to try something new (which is huge in and of itself). She decided on archery and that’s how she met Richard. “He made sure I was safe and having fun“ and “He’s one of my favourite teachers I have ever had!” We would recommend anyone who wants to learn something new in the outdoors to seek Richard out!”

“When you are a kid you want to learn everything! My daughter kept asking so many questions about the plants in our backyard and what they were, and what can I do with them? I didn’t have the answers and social media was too slow for help. Richard King not only gave her the knowledge she wanted but he also gave her more plants outside the backyard she could use. Now when we go on hikes she is the knowledgeable one who can identify the plants that you can eat and what they can be used for. “I learned a lot about plants and now I teach my friends.”
